Bishamonten is widely known to have been worshiped by many military commanders as a prayer for victory.

On the other hand, Bishamonten is also counted as one of the Shichifukujin (Seven Lucky Gods). Among the Seven Lucky Gods, Bishamonten is said to bring blessings such as good luck, fulfillment of wishes, and prosperity in business.
Fulfillment of wishes entrusted to Ema
Many ema are dedicated to Oiwasan Bishamonten in the main temple. The number is said to be one of the highest in Tochigi Prefecture in terms of the number of shrines and temples possessed.
Ema tablets are hung all over the outside of Oiwasan Bishamonten Main Temple. The number is over 130. Also, a huge black dragon is painted on the ceiling of the outer hall.
The size of the ema displayed in the main temple ranges from small ones around 20 cm to larger ones over 2 m in size.
It is said that it is extremely rare in Japan to see ema tablets of all sizes at the same time, and to see the following valuable ema tablets.
Particularly valuable ema tablets include the Bishamonten ema tablet of Katsushika Hokusai's pupil, Ryushinsai, and a haiku plaque with a haiku by Kobayashi Issa.
In this way, prayers have been made to Oiwasan Bishamonten for the fulfillment of wishes to this day, from the number of ema tablets on which wishes have been placed, and from the diversity of their designs and prayers.

Fulfillment of Kano-Gongen’s wish
In addition to the main image of Bishamonten, Oiwasan Bishamonten is also enshrined with a new deity who is said to be blessed with the blessings of fulfilling one's wishes.
He becomes a white snake god called Kano-Gongen.

How to pray for the fulfillment of your desires
There are two ways to pray for the fulfillment of your wishes at Oiwasan Bishamonten: visiting the shrine and goma training.
・Visit to fulfill your wishes
Please visit Oiwasan Bishamonten and come to the front of the main temple. After ringing the bell, please put your palms together and pray silently towards the main image of worship, Bishamonten.
The inside of the main temple and the amulet awarding place are open every morning for five and a half temples or on the first day of every month. Also, on the first day of every month, the main image of Bishamonten is unveiled. Please come and visit us.
Also, when visiting Kano-Gongen Shrine, please be careful as the mountain path is steep.
If you are looking for a ema tablet, please visit the amulet awarding place that are open every morning or on the first day of every month. The ema offering place is on the right hand side as you face the main temple.
・Goma training to fulfill your wishes
At Oiwasan Bishamonten, we carry out Goma training in which we light a fire and pray in the main temple.
It is held at 5:30 every morning or on the first day of every month.
Bishamonten of Oiwayama Tamonin Saishoji Temple, said to be one of the three Buddhas Bishamonten of Japan, is said to have many benefits, including protection of the nation, good luck, and prayers for victory. Above all, it is said that it will bring you the blessing of making your wishes come true.
