The seated figure is carved from a single piece of wood, wearing a hood and monk's robe, with hands concealed by the robe.
The front and upper back of the statue are carved with a machete, and the surface of the statue has horizontal stripes carved with a machete. The surface of the statue has horizontal machete-carved stripes,
The carved eyes have knots in them. This technique is said to be from the late Heian period. The forehead is slightly covered with what appears to be gold powder, suggesting that it was originally covered with gold powder. There are few similar Buddhist statues, and it is said to be extremely valuable.
