Greetings from the Chief Priest

Thank you for visiting the website of Oiwasan Bishamonten. I am Ryoken Numajiri, the ninety-fourth abbot of Oiwasan Tamonin Saishoji Temple.
Oiwasan Bishamonten is said to have been founded by Shonin Gyoki in 745, and is one of the three Buddhist Bishamonten in Japan, along with Kurama-san in the Yamashiro area and Shikisan in Yamato. Gyoki Shonin founded Oiwasan as a sacred place of prayer for the protection of the nation in the eight provinces of Sekihachishu, according to a dream of Bishamonten. Since then, Mt. Oiwa has been passed down from generation to generation as a sacred mountain with great spiritual power, and in its long history of over 1,270 years, it has been supported by many warlords and many people who wish for the blessings of Bishamonten.
At Oiwa Bishamonten, we have been performing the Goma training, a ritual that has been handed down from India for generations. This goma training is responsible for delivering your prayers to Bishamonten.
Please visit Oiwasan Bishamonten and feel the power of the sacred mountain where Bishamonten guided Gyoki Shonin.
We look forward to your visit.
